Faun
A full-bodied 10° with character. The ideal guide into the world of our bottom-fermented beers.
Pale Lager 10° | 4 % ABV | IBU 35 | 0.5 l can
About
A pale draught lager brewed so that it lacks neither flavour nor bitterness. Four kinds of malt are joined by a pair of Czech hops, Vital and Saaz. A fuller malt base, a firmer bitterness and a clean, refreshing finish. A delicious taste and a pronounced bitterness that will win over any lover of good beer.

Zdeněk SirůčekBrewmaster at ŠvabínHow our brewmaster sees it
The ideal beer with Sunday lunch. Thanks to an honest double-decoction mash and generous hopping, Faun has a full flavour and a firm bitterness. Of our bottom-fermented beers it is my favourite.

Brew sheet
Why is our beer different? Because we make it differently.
Czech lagers, bold specials and hand-drawn characters that give every beer its own face.
- Brewed in the Pilsen region
Water from the Pilsen region
From the home of the pilsner. We brew here, in a brewery that has stood since 1567.
- 2,000 litres
One batch is 2,000 litres
We brew about twice a week, so the beer never sits around in a warehouse.
- Live beer
Unfiltered and unpasteurised
The yeast stays in the beer. That is why it tastes fuller — and why it goes straight into your fridge at home.
Ordinary supermarket beer vs. Švabín
| Ordinary supermarket beer | Švabín | Why it matters | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pasteurisation | Ordinary supermarket beer✕Usually yes | Švabín✓No — the beer stays alive | Pasteurising heats the beer and kills the yeast. It lasts longer but tastes different |
| Filtration | Ordinary supermarket beer✕Usually yes, for clarity | Švabín✓No | Filter out the yeast and the flavour and body go with it |
| Batch size | Ordinary supermarket beer✕Industrial batches | Švabín✓2,000 litres, about twice a week | That much beer never has time to sit in a warehouse |
| New beers | Ordinary supermarket beer✕The same recipe for years | Švabín✓One or two new beers every month | It never gets old — there's always something to try |
| Label | Ordinary supermarket beer✕The same print on millions of cans | Švabín✓Hand-drawn, a different character on every beer | A can you won't throw away |
| Brewer | Ordinary supermarket beer✕No name on the can | Švabín✓Zdeněk Sirůček — and he puts his name to it | A person answers for the taste, not a department |
| What you support | Ordinary supermarket beer✕A large corporation | Švabín✓Rebuilding a brewery the state closed in 1952 | A brewery left to decay for seventy years is brewing again |
And Leshy brought back bronze from the International Beer Challenge in London — the jury tastes blind, without the label.
A brewery from 1567, left to decay for seventy years
In 1948 the state took it over and in 1952 shut it down. The brewhouse was dismantled and carted off to a large brewery in Pilsen. We bought the brewery in 2018 and have been putting it back together since 2022. There will be a brewery here, and a medieval park.
We sold 104,014.88 litres of beer in the last year. In 1875 this place brewed 17,000 hectolitres a year.
